we made it safe and sound to colorado. got in friday morning at 1am.

on the road again

country roads take back to the place i belong..
and I am sure there are plenty of traveling songs. I just can't think of them all. but, we are on the road. leaving tennessee and headed for colorado. the jeep and trailer are packed. apartment is empty and away we go. almost to nashville, currently. it 40 ish and a misty rain.

Merry Christmas eve

Merry christmas eve. well, t has called up his old employer and has agreed to come back = looks like we are on our way to denver again. today is his last day at usx. cleaning out the truck and going home. rest then start packing. shouldn't be too bad. sadly most of our stuff is still in boxes. guess we never felt at home here yet.

full eclipse viewing is at 2:35 am.. i was up for a quick peak. the moon was all hazy and red. shadow-like. i see why the natives would've seen it as a bad omen.

ducks...

ducks. there is a flock of about 20 here at this truck stop that t & i are stuck at. feeding them bread. it's stale but they don't seem to care. the company t drives for is leaving him sitting more and more. just waiting for loads they say. what ever suits them. me, i'd rather just start driving one direction or another.. just to get moving. maybe the freight will be better in another location.

no miles=no money. t wants to quit. his old boss called out of the blue a month ago. just wanted to see how we are doing. and if we ever decide to come back to his area, t is more than welcome to come back. well, it's looking like a great offer right now.

was in west virginia with t recently, saw a tractor trailer that has burned to the ground. not cool. there was still some fire spot burning when we went by. hope the driver was not injured or killed.

found this small sapling of a tree.. its maybe 7 feet tall... and these leaves on it are absolutely humongous!! no idea what kind of tree it is though.

hiking in buffalo mountain park near our house. it was a nice fall day. mostly cloudy and cooler so we didn't over-heat. the smell of fall, crunching of leaves and trail mix :)

october

October has almost come and gone. I've been slacking in my blogging - sorry. been doing some traveling... my computers both died so i lost my photo editing software :( finally bought a new laptop. ordered ( lol, from eBay ) photoshop elements that will work with the new windows 7. fussy fussy! as soon as i get it I will install and put photos back on here , Yeah! let's see some of the places we've been that are new since moving east.. New Jersey/NYC, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Oh.. today we go through Louisiana!
Went to Willie's place in Carl's Corner TX today. (Willie Nelson) had some delicious BBQ, Yum! last month T & I were in Joplin MO and saw where Chrome Shop Mafia/4 states trucking is. they were closed so we couldn't stop in. well, my backpack with all the patches, key chains and pins is getting heavier, lol. only a few states left in the lower 48 we haven't been to yet. .. so the journey is not over :)

Happy Autumn!!

Well -- summer has faded into fall. I had a busy summer. we moved across country.. my desktop computer crashed. then my laptop cord fried.. and i can't find a replacement. I finally put tennessee plates on the vehicles.. sniff.. somedays i still miss colorado. bought a new laptop! so now i can update my online self again, lol. amazing how this bit of technology is taken for granted in the everyday life... one gets used to just looking it up when there is a question about something.. opps, guess i can't, computer is down. nice to be back.. still working on replacing all my furniture. I found a really pretty set of dinner plates today.. fall colors :) leaves are changing colors.. temperatures are dropping. I may have to start wearing socks!

chillin and grillin! did some hiking an blueberry picking. watched some neighborhood fireworks. went to work today... only to find out we have the day off! lol, I wasn't the only person to show up and find a locked door today. oh well, nice surprise. now i have another day with my family and the pool. :)

today: took the day off from work, went swimming; watched the clouds as I warm in the sun, then we went hiking.. picked a lot of wild blueberries. I could make a pie!! went swimming again. Ahhh a nice day off recooping.

Exploring the area

Went Exploring yesterday. Found a lake area for picnics, camping, boating and such. nice area. Big lake. Watauga Lake is about 20 miles east of us. it was around 98 degrees here and the lake is slightly higher elevation. So, the temp there was closer to 90. The water wasn't really that cold! I'd go again during the week. The weekend was really crowded.

Berry Picking

all along our yard there is a tangle of rose bushes, small trees, large trees, berry bushes and all covered with grape vines. Hidden among the tangled mess are black raspberries. Mmm, we picked enough for two pies the other day. I made one, we ate the rest on cereal and on their own. Taught Roxy how to find them too. She's really good at it now and wants to go over to the lawn edge all the time. lol! We'll do it again in a few more days. there will be more ready soon.

The last thing I see... as we leave heading east into Kansas. And no, Kansas is not as flat as most of you think. lots of rolling hills.
