Go Team!

P is in track this year. yesterday she had a home track meet. She ran in the 440 & 220.

I hope she's enjoying herself. School colors are red and black. She likes to run so I think she may do this other years too. Here she is in the 220 race... it was a hard day for running. storm clouds kept passing over the school and spitting rain at us. But the wind! The gusts got pretty high ... some of the other competitors were stating how hard it was to run into this wind. Kuddos to all who ran!

Decorating Easter Eggs!

We did more Easter eggs this year. P wasn't thrilled to have her picture taken doing this event this year.. teen agers! lol, lots of colors n' fun though. we all get in on it. this year we were artistic and used fine tip marking pens to add detailed pictures.

spring fever...

Alass, I have fallen ill. my immune system has been wonderful all winter.. an now that the weather has hit a couple of days in the 70's.. I am sick. sinus cold. that has been my delay on here the last week. So I'll up date:
  • The bread... I tossed it.. it smelled really bad and i did not want to feed it to the stray cats outside let alone my family. I am going to re-vamp the recipe and try again. it's going to rain on my days off this week so that will be a good indoor project.
  • My daffodills are coming up nicely. some have buds on them!
  • P has joined track in school - tonight was her first practice.
  • My sister recently went home to visit family.. it's been a few years for her. When she got home she became ill, turns out it is her gall bladder. She needs to have it removed. I'll have to look that up - not sure what that does in the body??!!

well, tiz all for now. I need to get some sleep and go to work in the morning. Tomorrow is my Friday! Yahooo!

Yum!

This product makes it so hard to keep to healthy eating. I've avoided most Girl Scouts stands this year. I've only bought 3 boxes of thin mints this year. But this takes the cake... and well it goes well with it too! Found this ice cream and had to try it. made some dark chocolate brownies and MMM MMMM Good!

Wind

Well, the temperatures are back in the 40's & 50's. But the wind this morning is crazy! It may blow in some snow... but I think it will skip over us and go east to the wide open plains. It's still about 40 degrees here at 4 am. LOL, T just left for work... No, I don't normally get up this early. I just wanted to check the road advisories to be sure no roads he'll be on are closed yet. It gets that windy here! All is well, and I'm back off to bed. I have to go to work this morning too.

Ahh the sun!

The sun is finally out and has melted the snow and ice from my driveway. It's back in the 50's ... where it should be. Now if i need snow I can go to the mountains. I see I really need to wash the vehicles now.

a hiking we will go!

hiked to a lake on Thursday. it was foggy at our house but as we went up in elevation the warm sun came out. Got to the park... a balmy 48 degrees up here. Hey, it's warmer up here than at my house! Guess heat does rise! We go into the park and go to our selected area to hike. T's not feeling up to a long monster of a hike so we pick a shorter one. It ends up being good. as we started in on our hike, the wind picks up and the storm clouds blow over the mtns. we get to the lake and have lunch. as we sit there watching the clouds race over the jagged peak in front of us. We notice snow flakes starting to fall. we sit for a few more minutes talking about how easy it looks to just zig zag up the mountain this way and that and we can be at the top no problem... yeah, sure. we know it's a lot farther when you get up in there! well, time to walk back down the hill.

work work work

last week we started working 4 10's. 3 days off in a row.... it's like a mini vacation every week. So now Wednesday through Friday is my weekend. I felt so guilty on this last wednesday for not going to work. It felt wrong, off kilter somehow. Thursday and Friday are my regular off days. T and I went to the mountains on those days. This week should be better... less guilt as my new schedule sets in...

Silence is Deafening

I now know the meaning of this...
T & I went snow shoeing on Friday. Went to the park and hiked up Flat top mountain... 12,000 something I think is the elevation on this one... It's up there any way. At an overlook at about 10,000 feet I notice I lost my water bottle.. This isn't good. But we can see the top of the mountain...It looks close! We rest and trudge up...And up...Snow is looking good now.
The trees are getting down to my height... I succum to thirst and eat the snow...It's white! I'm thinking at this point I don't really care about stomach cramps and the big D...
Around 11,000 feet is tree line. The trail just ends here.. Well, it may go on but under the snow and wind whipped surface, we can't see any more tracks. The trees are shrubs at our feet here. Look up and see the top of the mountain. It looks soo close. We trudge up after taking our snow shoes off. It's all rocky here. Bushes are not safe to walk on... Lesson learned. I stepped on one and sunk down passed my knee. 'Shoes back on. Screw the rocks. We look up, and back down at where the trail disappeared. We seem no closer to the top. Well, it appears that last 1000 feet of elevation will have to wait. We're both getting dizzy. And I'm going to have a nervous break down if I fall through one more bush! The sun is setting in an hour or so...It's five miles back down to the trail head. So we stand here..Looking out over the vista. Noticing there is endless blue sky. And no wind. It is so quiet your ears ring.
The view is incredible...We'll be back...

Snow, snow, snow

Well, it's snowed here 3 weekends in a row. That at least keeps me indoors... My savings is intact through the holidays! There isn't anymore snow predicted for a while now. We get a break. still cold though. It's about midnight right now.. it's 4 degrees above 0...and the temp is rising! it was -1 four hours ago when I came home. The temp's are rising and the snow should start to melt. Can't really complain. The farmers here need the water... hope it helps.

Blizzard of '06

The final report is 2 to 3 feet for my area...though I have drifts about 6 feet. This picture is of the morning after...I am wondering where to begin shoveling. It seams hopeless. My car is the white hump in the back center area near my porch. it's red but you cant see any of it but a passenger side mirror..that's black. the wind kept that side kinda clear so I could find it. The jeep was a bit easier to find. All roads are back open and the airport is trying to fly people around. glad I wasn't there! It's still really cold, but the sun is coming out. most side roads are passable...parking lots... yeah right. four wheel drive is best there. I almost lost my car in the grocery store this morning! The stores were on short supply of food stuff and gas... every one is double stocking up now! Well, keeps us all on our toes! probably the only weather my area will have to talk about for a while again. lol! ... And yes the post office did shut down for two whole days! imagine the back log...well my cards will be late this year...sorry G, i haven't sent your package...only your card. not trusting the mail just yet for the big stuff ...but I'll send it soon. Better late than never right! Well, I've had enough snow for a while... 80's any time now!
