Endless sands

on the road again... going with T to New Mexio. Endless gravelly sandy beach like settings... with no water/ocean in sight. Hmmmm. .. I think I'm getting this beach theme vacation idea wrong.
lol, I'll send pictures as soon as I get them down loaded.

California or Bust...

I finally made it up and OVER the mountain! T & I went to California via Vegas last week. It was a fun road trip. Though he was on business and I for pleasure. So we did some quick sight seeing. No gambling. Neither of us has any luck with it. Went through the desert on a horse with no name.. :).. saw real palm trees. it was hot - and it's true that it's a different kind of heat. We saw the world's tallest thermometer, and it read 104. Cool for the desert is what I hear. Well, it was 94 the next day on the way home. Cold front going through. After we made it out of the desert and up the pass and down into the outskirts of LA.. we finally encounter fog? So the sky clouded up and I could barley see an outline of the mountains ... no blue sky or ocean view. T says it's that way every time he comes here. He's never been on a blue clear sky day like on TV. ... I could smell the salt air from wear we stopped for the night. So all was not lost. maybe next time we'll see the ocean. All and All a fun trip.

Bike trips

A Dairy Queen has opened in our town. :) and it's on the bike path. Took a ride the other day and stopped in for a Banana Creame Pie Blizzard. Oh Yea, it's sinful. But hey, we split it and we worked it off! Highly recommend you try one of these. Mmm Yum!

Ghost towns II

Anyway, back to ghost towns that really are. Nevadaville is about 2 miles from Central City...and Apex is about 6 miles back in the trees. Both are private property so exploring isn't really an option. It would be neat to own one of the buildings and restore it. Looks like some people are doing just that in some of these old
towns...

Ghost towns

Cemeteries... and the towns that go with them. Central city is town that is still very much alive.. Casinos keep it's heart beating today. There is plenty of old buildings/history still there to see. Nearby Nevadaville has not been so lucky. There are just a few homes left and some of the old stores. It looks like the town is for sale if anyone wants to buy it! Though I read some where that the town of Central City cut off its' water supply and that's why the town didn't make it. Killing off the competition. They are only about 2 miles apart. I Guess Central is luck Black Hawk hasn't done something like this yet. Or maybe they have... Black Hawk has the bigger and newer casinos .. only 1 mile down the road. .. lol, sounds like sibling rivalry.

More on owls...

This may be the last posting of my baby owls for a while. They are getting bigger... and so are the leaves on the tree they are in. It's getting hard to find them now. This picture is about two weeks ago. I've been over since, but can't get a clear picture angle in the leaves. have to wait till the start flying!

Go Team!

P is in track this year. yesterday she had a home track meet. She ran in the 440 & 220.

I hope she's enjoying herself. School colors are red and black. She likes to run so I think she may do this other years too. Here she is in the 220 race... it was a hard day for running. storm clouds kept passing over the school and spitting rain at us. But the wind! The gusts got pretty high ... some of the other competitors were stating how hard it was to run into this wind. Kuddos to all who ran!

Decorating Easter Eggs!

We did more Easter eggs this year. P wasn't thrilled to have her picture taken doing this event this year.. teen agers! lol, lots of colors n' fun though. we all get in on it. this year we were artistic and used fine tip marking pens to add detailed pictures.

spring fever...

Alass, I have fallen ill. my immune system has been wonderful all winter.. an now that the weather has hit a couple of days in the 70's.. I am sick. sinus cold. that has been my delay on here the last week. So I'll up date:
  • The bread... I tossed it.. it smelled really bad and i did not want to feed it to the stray cats outside let alone my family. I am going to re-vamp the recipe and try again. it's going to rain on my days off this week so that will be a good indoor project.
  • My daffodills are coming up nicely. some have buds on them!
  • P has joined track in school - tonight was her first practice.
  • My sister recently went home to visit family.. it's been a few years for her. When she got home she became ill, turns out it is her gall bladder. She needs to have it removed. I'll have to look that up - not sure what that does in the body??!!

well, tiz all for now. I need to get some sleep and go to work in the morning. Tomorrow is my Friday! Yahooo!

Yum!

This product makes it so hard to keep to healthy eating. I've avoided most Girl Scouts stands this year. I've only bought 3 boxes of thin mints this year. But this takes the cake... and well it goes well with it too! Found this ice cream and had to try it. made some dark chocolate brownies and MMM MMMM Good!
