new bumpers

convinced T that we don't need a new vehicle. (And I'm not getting rid of my Jeep anyway. He's free to get another pickup truck or what ever, but my Jeep stays. lol! ) So to get over the middle of the payment book slump... lets dress her up so she feels like new again! He agreed so I now have new bumpers, Fenders, hood scoop, Tinted rear windows and will soon have sliding windows for the front doors. We put the bumpers on now that the snow has melted. surprisingly easy. we thought the factory would have them on way too tight. but he got them off. the problem for now is the fenders. the screws holding them on won't all come off. there are no nuts on the backs... they are just stubborn. T called his brother in law, who is also a jeep fan. to ask him for suggestions. he said his didn't come off easy either, and to try on a warmer day. maybe if they are warm it will losen up and come off better. Ok, that sounds fair. I know I have to wait for a warm day to change the windows out anyway. We'll see what else I can find for it.

My Creek

now that the snow is gone.. the creek is up and flowing fast. while all the snow was on the ground, there was only about a foot of it showing. now this morning, it's free to do its own thing. back to being loud and bubbly!

Utah Sandstone

Utah sandstone. here it is erie and quiet. a strange place..almost surreal.

Thinking I need to go to Moab and the Arches national park. saw on the news a few months ago, that one of the lesser arches had fallen.

huge strawberry

check out the size of this strawberry! Got a box at the grocery store and they were all about this size. And they were sweet and juicy! They label said they were from California. well, at least it's not a foreign country, yet.

Dr Suess trees

the trees have so much snow stuck on them - the ends were curling up like the story books. .. I can just hear the who's singing away, lol!

After the Storm...

My area received about 3 to 4 feet of snow from the April 17th & 18th storm. P said our "bubble" broke and we got the 3 year storm. every three years we seem to get a good size storm out here. We have lots of broken trees and branches. the week after the storm... in the 60's. so now most all the snow is gone. we have a chance of rain later in the week.

the spaceship house

The "spaceship house" on Gennesse hill. lol, it kinda blends in now. it's the white egg shape thing on the top of the hill...at skyline.

the april 18th storm.

Well, we survived the storm. we ended up with about 3 feet. next round of weather calls for sunny and 60's. can you say flood!

Saturday, April 18, 2009

Well, yet another spring storm is here... and this time the weatherman was right. Darn it! We have a lot of snow. I'll post pictures when it's all said and done. But alas, we do need the moisture here. it has been very dry and we've had fire danger warnings already. the creek is still low too. no danger of flooding. P had to have a water sample of the creek for her science class. They have to study what is living in the water. She has discovered leaches, small crayfish like things and some other little larvae like things. Hmm, I won't be wading around barefoot.

9 things you can do to be happy

1. Raise your activity level to pump up your energy. If you’re on the phone, stand up and pace. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Put more energy into your voice. Take a brisk 10-minute walk. Even better…
2. Take a walk outside. Research suggests that light stimulates brain chemicals that improve mood. For an extra boost, get your sunlight first thing in the morning.
3. Reach out. Send an e-mail to a friend you haven’t seen in a while, or reach out to someone new. Having close bonds with other people is one of the most important keys to happiness. When you act in a friendly way, not only will others feel more friendly toward you, but you’ll also strengthen your feelings of friendliness for other people.
4. Rid yourself of a nagging task. Deal with that insurance problem, purchase something you need, or make that long-postponed appointment with the dentist. Crossing an irksome chore off your to-do list will give you a big rush of elation.
5. Create a more serene environment. Outer order contributes to inner peace, so spend some time cleaning off your desk and tackling the piles in the kitchen. A large stack of little tasks can feel overwhelming, but often just a few minutes of work can make a sizable dent. Set the timer for 10 minutes and see what you can do.
6. Do a good deed. Introduce two people by e-mail, take a minute to pass along useful information, or deliver some gratifying praise. In fact, you can also…
7. Save someone’s life. Sign up to be an organ donor, and remember to tell your family about your decision. “Do good, feel good” — it really works!
8. Act happy. Fake it 'til you feel it. Research shows that even an artificially induced smile boosts your mood. And if you’re smiling, other people will perceive you as being friendlier and more approachable.
9. Learn something new. Think of a subject that you wish you knew more about and spend 15 minutes on the Internet reading about it, or go to a bookstore and buy a book about it. But be honest! Pick a topic that really interests you, not something you think you "should" or "need" to learn about.

my sky of blue

"I see skies of blue and clouds of white. The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night And I think to myself, what a wonderful world"

View out my windows

This is the mountains as I see them from my windows.

Spring storm

The snow laden pines lining the entrance to my humble abode

spring storm on my Jeep

The spring storm didn't hit us as badly as Denver and the eastern plains. we recieved about 6 or 8 inches.

People watching @ Wally World

I was in Walmart yesterday. had to use the restroom. so I go in and there are two ladies already in there. one in the stall, the other at the sinks...they're chatting away. I go into my stall and they're conversation soon changes to why they are in there. one of them is taking a pregnancy test. I'm thinking ok, fine. The other lady is giving her suggestions to make sure she is peeing on the stick correctly. Now I've taken plenty of these tests. Come on people - it's not that hard. She's going on about what if the stick says " nothing " I have to agree with her friend... you will have an answer. As she's leaving, thankfully, she washes her hands and is joking about parading around the store holding her "stick" until she gets her answer. atleast I hope she was joking ... I can just see them marching around Walmart holding it out like the baton leader in a marching band! Ahh, the things people do in public.
